Do you suspect your husband or wife of cybercheating or of having an Internet addiction? Let’s consider some of the warning signs that your spouse may be a cybercheat or may be on his or her way to being one.
–Has your spouse decided that the home computer should be moved to a more private area of the house?
–Does he or she move to another screen when you approach?
–Does the computer now have a password so that you can’t use it?
–Is your spouse spending a lot more time online, perhaps late at night when the cybersex chat rooms are more active?
–Does your spouse have a hotmail account to which you’re denied access?
–Is his or her hotmail email address sexually suggestive (honeybunny, longlegs, hotandhorny, justforyou, desireu)?
–Does he or she check for email frequently when at home — and quickly hide or delete it when you approach?
–Does your spouse get angry when you enter the room and interrupt their time online?
–Is the emotional intimacy in your marriage decreasing or virtually gone?
–Are the children, other family members, activities, housework or household chores ignored while your spouse spends even more time online?
–Has your sex life decreased with your spouse showing little or no interest in sex? The spouse who engages in cybersex may find this sexual activity fulfills their needs.
–If your Internet connection isn’t billed on an unlimited basis, do you have high online charges that your spouse rationalizes or is your spouse hiding large credit card bills for those online charges?
–Do you have higher than normal telephone charges as your spouse uses the telephone to expand contact with his or her cyberlover?
–Has your spouse promised to quit their online activity and then tried to cover their time online?
–Does your spouse’s mood change when he or she has been online or is online?
A spouse who cheats is not apt to admit to their activities when questioned. It doesn’t happen in the real world and it doesn’t happen in the virtual world. So, if you suspect your spouse of being a cybercheat is there a way to catch him or her? Just as real world cheats leave clues, so do those who cheat in the virtual world.
