WiniFighter WinFighter Virus Scam
Thieves come in all manner and a new pack of thieves to emerge in July 2009 are the ones who designed and then let loose the virus/trojan/spyware/malware program called WiniFighter. It also shows up misspelled as WinFighter.
This nasty scareware program gets into computers via email attachments and visits to less reputable web sites. If your web browser will allow you to visit any and all sites, then you may end up downloading and installing this scam trash even if you don’t open unknown email attachments.
WiniFighter installs itself, creates a fake Windows Security box with itself shown as not activated, and throws up continual pop-ups warning that your computer is infected with all manner of viruses. There are three pop-ups, one at the bottom right of the computer screen, one at the bottom left, and one at the task bar. Clicking to get rid of them only generates more of the same, continually, multiple times per minute.
To get rid of the pop-ups and clean your computer of the viruses that WiniFighter’s pop-ups are warning you about requires “registering” the program. Registration means giving the scammers your credit card info so they can charge you $49.95.
Maybe paying these thieves $49.95 will stop the pop-ups but people like this don’t stop with just stealing a little. Once they have your credit card information, they can steal as much as they can get away with.
Here’s How to remove WiniFighter.
