Visa Notice
I just got this email from “VISA” regarding my VISA card:
From: “VISA” <transactions @ mail.visa.com>Subject: possible fraudulent transaction and/or collusionDear VISA card holder,A recent review of your transaction history determined that your card was used at an ATM located in Colombia, but for security reasons the requested transaction was refused. You need to complete the VISA Card Holder Form. You can do this by clicking the link below:http://alerts.cforms.visa.com/secureapps/vdir/cholderform.php?ref=505497975674381929029577905597391088499066&VISA Cards Support
Of course it’s not really from VISA even if the link looks like it is. The actual domain name and the location to which I would be directed if I clicked the link, the hidden code, is udaswy.cz. These are the people who will gladly take all my details and then use that information to get new cards, as well as use my existing card, to steal from me.
I’ve received several messages about “my” VISA card being used out of the country or at an ATM and the transaction refused. One came from a domain sucipa.vc, another from freeimagesonly.couk, and the rest from udaswy.cz.
The reason thieves continue to send phishing emails such as this is that some people really do believe they’re getting an email from their credit card company or their bank and they click through, give all their personal details, and find out later, after their bank account has been drained or their credit cards have been maxed out, that they’ve been conned.
