‘Random Thoughts’

These are two of several interesting videos I found on YouTube on topics I’ve been curious about. The first video, The Un-Funny TRUTH about Scientology, is chilling. The second, Scientology: Inside the Cult, goes inside the London Scientology organization via hidden camera. Of course there are more videos on YouTube, some with Tom Cruise and others with John Travolta, probably the most famous of current Scientologists. There are many Scientology parodies on YouTube and it’s not always easy to tell a parody from a documentary. I don’t believe these two are parodies. Read more »

I got “lost” on YouTube this morning and came across some intriguing videos such as this one that seems to prove that Elvis Presley might not have died on August 16, 1977.

Last week my husband and I were the third car in the left turn lane of a four-lane highway. We were heading east, turning north. When the traffic light turned green for our lane, we watched in horror as two cars collided in the intersection, sending one, a black SUV, airborne. In mid-air, the vehicle rolled over. Explicit nude photos posted on MySpace.com have brought child pornography charges against a 14-year-old New Jersey girl. If convicted, she may be forced to register as a sex offender which will have lifetime consequences for a very stupid act many teens do on a regular basis.

The girl, who posted about 30 “very explicit” photos so her boyfriend would see them, will have to live with the knowledge that anyone with access to the Web could view them, including authorities trying to protect kids from being victims of child pornography. Read more »

Some YouTube videos turn the performers into overnight sensations even if they aren’t “all that good.” They just have to be funny and hit the right nerve. The “Mom Song” does that.

Finally the truth is out! Those perfect faces, those super thin bodies, those flawless skin tones… they’re as real as any Photoshop enhanced image can get! A popular Viral Video shows a model being made up, having her photo taken, and the photo being retouched into what finally appears on a billboard. Now we all can be perfect!

Take a look through any of the top fashion magazines and some of the “enhanced” photos will be more obvious than others. You know the ones, where the model’s flawless legs stretch for three-quarters of her body. They’re so super slim that she’d never be able to actually walk on them, particularly not on those 7-inch designer heels.

I wonder when we’ll get back to what really counts, what can’t be enhanced artifically, the person inside. A perfect body can only hide the ugly person residing inside for so long.

Toward the end of last year, I began having problems with my eyes. I’d be at my computer, or at the grocery store, or driving my car, and I’d be looking through a ”waterfall.” Within a minute or two my vision would be blurry as the “waterfall” took over.

The waterfall (or “aura”) would last for several minutes, just long enough for the back of my head to start hurting. If I was able to sit or lie down and close my eyes, I did. If I was driving, I slowed down and focused on the road. The “headache” would last about 30 minutes and then be gone except for the soreness at the back of my head. That would last a day or two.
